The Lakewood Playhouse is proud to announce its 78th season of shows! It's a season filled with laughter, mystery, literature, and stories that touch the heart. This year includes five premieres that have never been seen at the Lakewood Playhouse.

Season Ticket Renewals are currently underway and will be open to New Season Ticket Buyers on May 1st, 2016.

THE 3 "Person" HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES

"Holmes and Watson as You've NEVER Seen Them Before!"

September 9th through October 9th, 2016

An ancient family curse, a desolate moor, a spectral hound and a deranged killer on the loose. The Hound of the Baskervilles is the most celebrated Holmes story of all, a masterpiece of mystery and suspense. This comedic take on the Classic Holmes Story is performed by THREE ACTORS (much like THE 39 STEPS and THE COMPLETE WORKS of WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE ABRIDGED)! Oh...and sometimes... it's scary... Really, really freakin' scary.

November 25th through December 18th, 2016

The saga of George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty, whose guardian angel has to descent on Christmas Eve to save him from despair and to remind him-by showing him what the world would have been like had he never been born-that his has been, after all, a wonderful life.

It's the weird and wonderful as newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter a problem when their car halts in the rain. They both look for contact, only to find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite. A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there? Especially when a large group of Transylvanians dance to the 'Time Warp', Dr. Frank-N-Furter builds his own man and a whole host of participation for the audience to enjoy.

"Two Plays for Those of Us Who May Have Missed the Meeting

April 14th through May 7th, 2017

Acclaimed as a modern comedic masterpiece, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead is the fabulously inventive tale of Hamlet as told from the worm's-eye view of the bewildered Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters in Shakespeare's play. In Tom Stoppard's best-known work, this Shakespearean Laurel and Hardy finally get a chance to take the lead role, but do so in a world where echoes of Waiting for Godot resound, where reality and illusion intermix, and where fate leads our two heroes to a tragic but inevitable end.

THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE

BOOK & LYRICS BY Sir William Gilbert / MUSIC BY Sir Arthur Sullivan

"Because Everything is Better with Pirates!"

May 26th through June 25th, 2017

Gilbert and Sullivan's hilarious, hopeful farce follows young Frederic, an orphan who has mistakenly been apprenticed to an ineffectual but raucous band of pirates. He disavows the pirates' way of life and falls for the beautiful Mabel. Frederic's melodious tones win over the heart of Major General Stanley's songbird daughter, Mabel, but when the Pirate King discovers General Stanley has lied about being an orphan to keep the pirates from stealing all of his belongings and carrying off his bevy of beautiful daughters, an "ingenious paradox" may prevent.

Don't forget: our show will open with another twisted episode from the iconic radio show "Lights Out," PLUS a segment from the classic X MINUS ONE and many more surprises!
