The third season of the Elmer Bernstein Memorial Film Series continues on Monday, April 10, 2017 with the screening of the biblical epic film, The Ten Commandments. Featuring one of composer Elmer Bernstein's most memorable cinematic scores, the story of Moses in The Ten Commandments, starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, and Anne Baxter, will captivate audience members as it comes to life in all its cinematic majesty on The Granada Theatre's state-of-the-art 4k digital cinema system.

Enjoying a life of ease in the court of Egypt's pharaoh, Moses discovers his Hebrew heritage and, later, God's expectations of him. He dedicates himself to liberating his people from captivity and, with the aid of plagues and divine intervention, manages to lead them out of Egypt and across the Red Sea. A greater challenge comes in the form of the golden calf idol, however, and it takes an unforgettable visitation by God on Mount Sinai for Moses' mission to prevail.

Series guest curator Jon Burlingame is the nation's leading writer on music for film and expert on the legendary film composer, Elmer Bernstein. He is the author of four books on music in motion pictures, television, and recording in addition to being the leading expert on the music of Elmer Bernstein. Burlingame regularly writes for the Daily Variety and the Los Angeles Times and has written for The New York Times, Washington Post, New York Daily News, Newsday, Premier, Emmy, and The Hollywood Reporter.

Guests can look forward to pre-screening remarks from Burlingame in addition to a discussion surrounding the importance of the musical scores within The Ten Commandments and other noteworthy Elmer Bernstein films.
