San Jose Repertory Theatre received a total of 22 nominations in the large theatre category (venues over 300 seats) from the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle (SFBATCC) for outstanding productions during 2011. San Jose Rep Artistic Director Rick Lombardo received three best director nominations for his work on the world premiere of Love in American Times, the theatrical classic The Dresser and the musical Spring Awakening.

"I'm so pleased and proud of all our artists whose hard work made these 22 nominations for our productions in 2011 possible," said Lombardo. "I'm blessed to work with such a talented extended family that created a year of memorable works of theatre for our patrons."

In the Musical category for venues over 300 seats, Spring Awakening, choreographed by Sonia Tayeh of television's So You Think You Can Dance, received 11 nominations for entire production, ensemble, principal female (Eryn Murman), principal male (both Miguel Cervantes and Jason Hite), director (one of three director nominations received by Rick Lombardo), musical director (Dolores Duran-Cefalu), set design (John Iacovelli), lighting design (David Lee Cuthbert), costume design (Rachel Meyers), and sound design (Steve Schoenbeck).

In the Drama category, Love in American Times, a world premiere by Philip Kan Gotanda, received four nominations, The Dresser garnered five nominations, and A Christmas Carol and The Last Romance each received one nomination.

Veteran actress Kitty Winn, who co-starred with Al Pacino in The Panic in Needle Park, received a nomination for principal female in The Last Romance.  San Jose native Linda Park, best known for her role as communications officer Hoshi Sato in the television series Star Trek: Enterprise, received a nomination for principal female in Love in American Times.

Along with a number of nominations for acting and directing, the San Jose Rep received a total of seven nominations for set design, costume design, lighting design, and sound design.
