Marin Shakespeare Directors Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle honored Marin Shakespeare Company's Artistic and Managing Directors, Robert and Lesley Currier with a special award at its annual gala held March 28, 2016 in San Francisco.

The Curriers received the Jerry Friedman Award, named for the KGO Radio theatre critic who served as SFBATCC president for 22 years. The lifetime achievement award recognizes the Currier's contributions to the creativity and growth of theater and their many years of work for education and social justice through the medium of theater.

Marin Shakespeare Company actors also receive SFBATCC Awards their 2015 performances. Actor Ron Campbell received a "Principal Actor" award for his role as Miguel de Cervantes' iconic dreamer in "Don Quixote" and actress Debi Durst received a "Featured Actress" award for her role as Cornelius in "Cymbeline."

The San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle, a non-profit and all volunteer organization, is dedicated to promoting and recognizing excellence in theater arts in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. The organization celebrated its 40th consecutive year presenting over 60 awards to Bay Area theater companies for dramas, comedies and musicals in categories of acting, direction, production and technical crafts.
