Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, closes out its 2016-17 season with the Peninsula premiere of the five-time Tony Award-nominated musical smash, Sister Act. Based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, this feel-good musical comedy centers around wannabe diva Deloris Van Cartier who, after witnessing a crime, is put into witness protection in the least likely of places-a convent. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Featuring original music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, School of Rock, Love Never Dies), this uplifting musical is filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story about the universal power of friendship.

Sister Act will run May 4 - 28, 2017 at Hillbarn Theatre (1285 East Hillsdale Blvd., Foster City). Performances are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Single tickets range in price from $28-$48 and are available now by calling 650.349.6411 ext. 2 or visitingwww.hillbarntheatre.org.
