Ballet San Jose Announces Gala Artists for November 16

Ballet San Jose Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño has announced updates to the Company's November 16 all-star gala. Members of Ballet San Jose and Ballet San Jose School will be joined on stage by an impressive lineup of guest artists for the benefit evening, beginning at 5 pm with cocktails and dinner, followed by an 8 pm performance and VIP post-performance party, all at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.

Joining the list of guest artists announced on August 23 will be Maria Kowroski, Ask La Cour and Ana Sophia Scheller from New York City Ballet and Taras Domitro and Maria Kochetkova from San Francisco Ballet. English National Ballet's Tamara Rojo, originally announced to appear, will unfortunately not be able to perform as she will be on tour with her company. The complete gala performance lineup as of this writing includes guest artists from American Ballet Theatre: Misty Copeland, Marcelo Gomes, Julie Kent and Gillian Murphy; from New York City Ballet: Joaquin De Luz, Megan Fairchild, Gonzalo Garcia, Maria Kowroski, Ask La Cour and Ana Sophia Scheller; from San Francisco Ballet: Taras Domitro and Maria Kochetkova; from Boston Ballet: Lorna Feijoo and Nelson Madrigal; and International Artists Adiarys Almeida and Joseph Gatti. Carreño has also announced partial details of the gala performance program: Ballet San Jose will perform an excerpt from Finnish choreographer Jorma Elo's Glow Stop to the second movement of Philip Glass's Tirol Concerto. San Francisco Ballet Principals Maria Kochetkova and Taras Domitro will perform thethird act grand pas de deux from Don Quixote. International phenoms Adiarys Almeida and Joseph Gatti will perform the iconic pas de deux from Le Corsaire. New York City Ballet Principals Megan Fairchild and Daniel Ulbricht perform George Balanchine's Tarantella. New York City Ballet Principals Gonzalo Garcia (formerly a Principal of San Francisco Ballet) and Ana Sophia Scheller perform Balanchine's Tschaikovsky Pas de Deux. New York City Ballet Principals Maria Kowroski and Ask La Cour perform ChristopherWheeldon's After the Rain pas de deux (Music: Arvo Part), New York City Ballet Principal Joaquin De Luz performs a solo, Five Variations on a Theme, choreographed by David Fernandez to Bach's Violin Concerto in D minor. American Ballet Theatre Principals Julie Kent and Marcelo Gomes will perform the balcony pas de deux from Sir Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet. The performance will feature live music with Ballet San Jose Music Director George Daugherty conducting Symphony Silicon Valley.

Tickets are available for the full gala evening beginning at $1,000 and for the performance only, priced $50-$110. A limited number of "Black Tie" performance plus VIP post-performance party tickets are available for $500 each. Performance tickets are on sale now at www.balletsj.org.
