San Jose Rep opens its 31st season with the highly anticipated rock-musical, Spring Awakening, the winner of eight Tony Awards®, including Best Musical. The production, choreographed by Sonia Tayeh of the hit TV series "So You Think You Can Dance," is a haunting and provocative tale that celebrates youth and rebellion in a daring fusion of morality, sexuality and rock & roll. (Please note: Spring Awakening contains mature themes: sexual situations, partial nudity, and strong language.)

Next is the regional premiere of The Last Romance by Joe DiPietro, an ageless story about taking a chance on love later in life. And just in time for the holiday season, Lombardo presents his own original adaptation of the Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, truly a feast for the senses and a theater experience for the whole family.

San Jose Rep then kicks off the New Year with the world premiere of the famous film noir tale, Double Indemnity, by James M. Cain, adapted for the stage by David Pichette & R. Hamilton Wright. Caught in a web of greed and lust, an adulterous couple commits the almost perfect crime, leading to guilt, suspicion, and betrayal.

Then get ready for some laughs with the Bay Area premiere of the Tony Award® winner, God of Carnage, by Yasmina Reza. A sharp-edged comedy that takes us on a rollercoaster ride through twisted depths and hilarious contradictions when "grown-ups" are called upon to tidy up their children's messes.

Next we go backstage with the Understudy by Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck. This laugh-out-loud look at the battle for stage credibility between a typecast action movie star and a "real" actor with a very large chip on his shoulder provides insight into the complicated relationships that form in the stressful and emotional world backstage.

The season closes with Bill W. and Dr. Bob by Samuel Shem and Janet Surrey. This quick-witted and honest docu-drama follows two dynamic and dedicated men who, in the midst of their battle with acute and debilitating alcoholism, formed a formidable and historic alliance to help others combat the same addiction, and establish the foundations for the entire recovery industry.
