On September 2, The Studio Theatre proudly presents All in the Timing by David Ives. This critically acclaimed, award-winning evening of comedic short plays combines wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun. Ives' collection of six fast-paced glimpses into the eccentricities of life, love, communication, and dating will shine a light at the absurdity of life.

The characters portrayed are diverse, bizarre, complex and unerringly familiar. The audience is taken on a joy-ride through the human condition - a couple on their first date, a room of creative simians earnestly typing Hamlet, a tutor of an imagined language, and Philip Glass reimagined.

"David Ives has been described as the maestro of the short form," said Madison Mooney, Executive Director for the Playhouse. "The pieces in this show were originally written over several years as single plays. In 1993, Ives presented them as a collection entitled All in the Timing." Sean Gray, Playhouse Artistic Director added, "A couple of years ago we did a Staff and Friends Cabaret. 'Phie and Larry Mura performed one of the show's pieces entitled Sure Thing. It's an imagined first date with a bell that helps overcome the pitfalls of first impressions. The audience loved it. That's the appeal of Ives' works; they're quirky, memorable and thought-provoking in the most charming way possible.

Not coincidentally, 'Phie Mura is directing the show. Her obvious affinity for the work and her ability to tease out the nuances of every word was part of the decision to invite her to direct the production."

This is the third show 'Phie has directed for the Playhouse. She is innovative, sensitive and always finds ways to make each production unique. Of the nine cast members, five are making their Playhouse debuts. They are: Brian Pirnat, Michael Kaye, Kacey Leggio, Arturo Jones and Katherine White. Returning actors include: Laura Claggett, Mitch Nunn, Larry Mura and Rick Reischman.

All in the Timing opens on September 2 and runs through the end of the month.
