It's the holiday season once again, and Classic Theatre is going to be providing some holiday cheer to the San Antonio area once again. Last year, Classic presented its live radio broadcast of Joe Landry's "It's a Wonderful Life." This production takes Frank Capra's American holiday classic and brings it to captivating life as a 1940s style radio broadcast.

With the help of an ensemble that brings a dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve. An angel helps the despairingly frustrated George by showing what life would have been like if he never existed. Last year, Classic's stellar production was a continuous sell-out, and was highlighted in the San Antonio Express News:

"[Classic theatre's] staging of the radio adaptation of "It's a Wonderful Life" is an absolute charmer, featuring pitch perfect performances from the entire cast (Jack Berns, Renee Garvens, Alan Utley, Terri Pena Ross and Allan S. Ross) as well as live sound effects work. It's the show to see if you need a little Christmas, right this very minute, to borrow a phrase." - Deborah Martin

This holiday performance ends what has been a five-and-a-half year tenure of Classic Theatre at the Sterling Houston JumpStArt Theatre in the Blue Star Arts Complex. Classic will continue its sixth season as the new company-in-residence at the Woodlawn Theatre Black Box with its production of "Death of a Salesman" this February, and with "Private Lives" in May.

The Sterling Houston Theatre is located in the Jump-Start Performance Co. at 1420 S. Alamo. (in the Blue Star Arts Complex.). "It's a Wonderful Life" will be performed Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 3:00 PM beginning December 7 and running through December 15. All General Admission tickets are $25.00, Senior/Military/SATCO tickets are $20 and Student (all ages) are $10. Call 1-800-838-3006 or go to and click on Buy Tickets. This production is outside of the regular Classic Theatre season and is not included in the Season Pass. The building, theater and its restrooms are all wheelchair accessible.
