After completing their 50th anniversary season, Repertory Dance Theatre presents internationally-known contemporary dance company, Ate9 Dance Company on July 15, 2016 at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Ate9 was founded by Israeli dancer-choreographer Danielle Agami. The former Senior Manager of Gaga U.S.A. and rehearsal director for Batsheva Dance Company, Agami has been commissioned by dance companies all over the world and was named one of Dance Magazine's Top 25 to Watch in 2015.

"With intriguing imagination, well-developed craft and an eye for nuance, this budding choreographer may surprise us yet." (Ora Brafman, The Jerusalem Post).

The cast of Ate9 dANCE cOMPANY is known for turning awkwardness into something beautiful. Jeff Slayton from See Dance News states, "Agami's work is stark, direct and she exposes our imperfections...it is intelligent and intense."

Ate9 will perform their evening-length work, EXHIBIT b. Originally commissioned by White Bird in Portland,OR, EXHIBIT b explores the difficulty that the Israeli conflict brings to our daily lives. The music -- a unique mix between Hip Hop and Iranian music -- is part of an ongoing collaboration between Agami and the composer Omid Walizadeh.

Ate9 strives to promote the power of the arts by bringing people together through professional and experimental dance experiences. Through its dedication to the evolution of dance and its devotion to reimagining the role of dance in communities of all kinds, Ate9 builds sustainable audiences for dance, and invests in ongoing dialogues between people.

Agami and Ate9 dANCE will be in Salt Lake City as part of RDT's SUMMERDANCE16 (a two-week intensive workshop). Agami and the two companies will collaborate to create a brand new commission on Repertory Dance Theatre. Agami's commission will premiere on RDT's fall concert, ÉLAN (September 29-October 1).
