Ekaterinburg Opera Theater invites you to the magic country, where live music heroes of fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.
"Hansel and Gretel" is the most popular German opera composer Engelbert Humperdinck (1854-1921). E. Humperdinck studied composition at the Cologne and Munich, traveled to Italy, where in 1881 he met with Richard Wagner and was invited to Bayreuth. There's Humperdinck assisted Wagner in the preparation for publication of the score of the Opera "Parsifal". In 1893, the Engelbert Humperdinck staged in Weimar Opera "Hansel and Gretel" ("Hansel und Gretel", on the Russian stage was also named "Vania and Masha") on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, which immediately won recognition.
