Barbra Streisand makes her first appearance in nearly 50 years at the Tony Awards this Sunday; come August she'll be in concert in Brooklyn. In between, fans and theatergoers can get their Barbra-fix when Penguin Rep Theatre presents Buyer & Cellar, Jonathan Tolin's award-winning comedy in Stony Point, New York, starting July 1.

A play about the price of fame, the cost of things and the oddest of odd jobs, Buyer & Cellar is the (fictional) story of Alex More, an unemployed actor, and what happens when he goes to work in a shopping mall built in Ms. Streisand's basement where Babs is the only buyer! (The part about the shopping mall at Ms. Streisand's home in Malibu is true).

Winner of a Lucille Lortel Award during its Off Broadway run, Buyer & Cellar was called the "most talked-about comedy of the year" by The New York Times.

The production stars Parker Drown, winner of the Helen Hayes Award for lead actor for Rent, and is directed by Stephen Nachamie, who previously staged My Name is Asher Lev, Becoming Dr. Ruth and Rounding Third for Penguin Rep and is associate director of the Tony Award-nominated revival of She Loves Me.

The limited engagement of Buyer & Cellar runs from Friday, July 1 through Sunday, July 24 at Penguin Rep's Barn Theatre in historic Stony Point (Rockland County). Official opening is Sunday, July 3 at 2:00 p.m.

The production features scenic design by Patrick Rizzotti, projection design by Brian Prather, costume design by Dustin Cross, lighting design by Todd Wren, and sound design by William Neal.

Performance days and times are: Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m., with matinees on Saturdays at 4:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. There is also a special weekday matinee on Friday, July 1 at 2:00 p.m.

Penguin's intimate, 108-seat theatre, which is located at 7 Crickettown Road, is converted from an 1880's hay barn, and offers air-conditioning, wheelchair accessible entrance, rest rooms and seating, and plenty of free parking.

Tickets to Buyer & Cellar are priced at $43 (including facility fee and service charge). Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more and young people (30 and under).

Penguin's 2016 season also includes Dancing Lessons, a romantic comedy by Mark St. Germain, author of last season's hit Becoming Dr. Ruth (August 12 - September 4), and Michael McKeever's Daniel's Husband, an award-winning new drama about the power and pain of love (September 23 - October 16).

Three show subscriptions are on sale now and start as low as $86.25.

To order tickets or for further information, visit Penguin Rep's website at www.penguinrep.org or call 845-786-2873.
