Billy Porter

FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2017 @ 8PM | $55/$47/$40 | BROADWAY

Tony and GRAMMY Award-winner Billy Porter is a critically-acclaimed singer, composer, actor, playwright and director. Having won the 2013 Drama Desk and Tony Awards for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as "Lola" in the smash hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots, he traded in his high heels for tap shoes to join Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell in Savion Glover's revival of Shuffle Along, "the [2016] season's essential ticket" according to The New York Times and A Critics' Pick. A tenor with innate vocal power, Porter was a member of the original Broadway casts of Miss Saigon, Five Guys Named Moe, and Grease, and has starred in Smokey Joe's Café and Dreamgirls on Broadway as well. In his performance at the Emelin, Mr. Porter will fuse the classic with the contemporary, performing from Broadway & Soul: The Soul Of Rodgers. These fresh takes from Richard Rodgers' catalogue will leave the audience with a renewed sense of what it truly means to stand the test of time. TERRAPIN

SAT, MAY 6, 2017 @ 8PM |$35/$27| TRIBUTE/ROCK

Terrapin returns to the Emelin after rocking the house last season with its authentic mix of Grateful Dead and other vintage jam-centric music, including an incendiary "Franklin's Tower", a blues-y "They Love Each Other," a titanic "Playin' In The Band->Terrapin->Alligator->Eyes of the World" and oh-so-sweet "Sugar Magnolia" encore. Terrapin is the region's best Grateful Dead experience bringing a raw and emotional interpretation to one of the best-known and beloved catalogs of music anywhere. Drawing upon a broad and varied experience, together the players in the group enlighten and entertain both the true "Deadhead" and the newly-acquainted listener. See more:
