After last season's runaway hit, Squirrel Stole My Underpants, performer Bonnie Duncan returns to Ocean State Theatre with her marvelous confection of friendship, invention, and adventure, Lollipops for Breakfast, The production, which is part of Ocean State Theatre Company's Family Fun Fest, will be performed for one show only on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am.

You can't have lollipops for breakfast! But today, Sylvie decides she's going to break that rule, even if it means she has to make her own amazingly perfect lollipop from scratch. She and her trusty pet bird search for missing ingredients, wrestle with giant candy machines, and get lost in a magical pop-up cookbook.

Bonnie Duncan has blended puppetry, dance, and physical theatre in surprising and delightful ways for the past 14 years. Her work has been described as "an artful world of silent dreams, mime, and dance" (Austin Live Theatre). She has most recently been working as one half of They Gotta Be Secret Agents with Tim Gallagher. Their show, Poste Restante, continues to tour worldwide, and won "Best Touring Show of 2011," Austin, TX; Best of the Fringe, San Francisco, 2009; and a nomination for Most Innovative Show at Prague Fringe Festival. Prior to her work as a Secret Agent, Bonnie was a company member of Snappy Dance Theater for eight years, performing sculptural, acrobatic dances nationally and internationally. Her movement was called "breathtakingly simple" and "delightfully crafty" by the Boston Globe.

With Lollipops for Breakfast, Ms. Duncan is exploring how two friends overcome obstacles to get what they both want: a perfect lollipop. She wants every child (and every adult, too!) to feel that they are seeing their own experience of trying something new, failing and then trying again. The performance, told entirely without words, features multiple styles of puppetry, original music, and a tiny bit of acrobatics. She is drawing inspiration from the fearlessly imaginative female leads in wondrous stories such as Rosie Revere, Engineer, by Andrea Beaty; The Most Magnificent Thing, by Ashley Spires; Mrs. Meyers, the Bird, by Wolf Erlbruch; and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Lollipops for Breakfast will be performed with live music. Funded in part by the New England States Touring program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program and the six New England state arts agencies.

Lollipops for Breakfast will be presented on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am. The theatre is located at 1245 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI. Single tickets are $10.00 each.
