The Brave Artist Collective is proud to present their 2017 Inaugural season featuring Philip Ridley’s harrowing and beautiful drama, Dark Vanilla Jungle. This production will be performed as a limited engagement at the Flamboyan Theater at the Clemente Soto Velez from March 14-26th.
Straight from her 4-star turn at the Camden Fringe Festival in London, Lexie Braverman will reprise the role of the endearing and tortured Andrea in Philip Ridley’s one-woman drama. This newly mounted production will be directed by Sybille Bruun (Artistic Director- The Shakespeare Forum). Braverman’s review highlights include, “Braverman knocks it out of the goddamn park from minute one.”- LONDON CITY NIGHTS, and “I see between 120 and 150 plays a year…but I've never seen a better or more astonishing performance than that of Lexie Braverman”- LIAM DEVINE.
About the Director- Sybille Bruun is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Shakespeare Forum. She has worked with educational arts outreach programs such as Project Shine and the Brachiate Outreach Division, and developed The Shakespeare Forum's Educational Curriculum, all programming committed to bringing arts and arts education to under-served communities and children with special needs. Sybille has directed numerous productions both in New York and regionally. Highlights include: Hamlet(Theatre for the New City),Love's Labour's Lost, and The Merchant of Venice(both at The Gym at Judson) with The Shakespeare Forum.
About the Performer- Lexie Braverman is the co-founder of the Brave Artist Collective and proudly hails from Philadelphia. This is her NYC debut. Regional highlights include Women Beware Women, The Sea Voyage, and Love for Love (American Shakespeare Center), and Fat Pig directed by Logan Ellis (Ithaca Underground). Braverman was a profound member of the NC Shakespeare Festival Educational Outreach program. Braverman received a BA in Communications from Ithaca College and an MA Certificate in Acting from the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol, UK.
Lighting design is by Jason Fok and sound design by Elia Chauaqui. Jam Shakwi stage manages, Laura Abbott assistant stage manages. Dark Vanilla Jungle poster photography by Tiphaine Betscher.
