Tracie Collins is undoubtedly one of the most thought-provoking playwrights of our time.  An avid activist on issues surrounding equality for women and race relations, Collins has added many credits to her name as an actress, writer, producer and director.  Unafraid of transparency and the controversial social injustices that plague our communities, Collins’ current body of work Cold Piece of Werk, explores the real-life human sex trafficking epidemic in Oakland, CA. Collins’ fourth stage play Cold Piece of Werk (March 2015) is the story of 17-year-old Midnight, who gets “caught up” in the sex trafficking industry in East Oakland.  Midnight is a troubled girl who navigates her way through this tumultuous life.  The Question Is: How did she get caught up, and is she able to escape the game and survive? This is the first of four stage productions where Collins is not acting.
