William Peace University, a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, is proud to announce the 2014-2015 Manning Chamber Music Concert Season schedule. The eighth annual series is in conjunction with the North Carolina Symphony, and will feature five shows throughout the academic year held on the William Peace University campus.

Performances will include Jazz musician Steve Elmer with Triangle residents and area musicians Robert Cohen and Don Gladstone, Monday, September 8, Broadway musicians Carolann Sanita and WPU Visiting Professor Lauren Kennedy on Monday, October 20, and members of the North Carolina Symphony on Monday, November 10, Monday January 12, and Monday, April 6. All performances are made possible through a gift made by Alumna Sara Jo Allen Manning '58 '60 which established The Manning Chamber Music Series Fund.

The "Broadway Comes to Peace" concert is $10 for adults and $5 for students. All other Manning Series Concerts are free and open to the public; however, registration is required for general admission reserved seating.

"We're really excited for this year's lineup," said Julie Ricciardi, Vice President for Engagement at William Peace University. "Not only are we continuing our fantastic relationship with the North Carolina Symphony, but we're adding some new pieces into the mix with one of our faculty members performing. It really is must-see entertainment."

"We're happy to provide our faculty, staff, students, and Alumni, along with the local community, a series of fun and exciting shows," said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., President of William Peace University. "The Manning Series has become a tradition here and it's something people really enjoy seeing."

"I love that the University offers us an outlet from school with awesome shows during the week," said Justin Cornett, William Peace University '16. "We're in the middle of downtown, but we don't even have to leave campus to catch great events."

ABOUT WILLIAM PEACE UNIVERSITY: William Peace University is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. It was founded in 1857 as Peace Institute, offering education for boys and girls in primary grades and to women from high school to college. Peace, an all-women's college, became a four-year baccalaureate college and graduated its first bachelor's students in August of 1996. Exclusively an all-women's institution for its first 152 years, Peace began offering coeducational evening courses through the William Peace School of Professional Studies in 2009. In 2011, Peace College transitioned to William Peace University and welcomed its first coeducational class to its day program in fall 2012. Its mission is to prepare students for careers in the organizations of tomorrow. On average, more than 90 percent of the university's graduates are placed in jobs or graduate school within one year of graduation. In fact, the University is ranked No. 1 in the nation among colleges with the highest rate of internships, according to a 2013 study conducted by U.S. News & World Report.
