People's Light & Theatre launches its 2012-2013 Season with a selection of nine plays that include classics, contemporary plays and world premieres. The season opens with August Wilson's Seven Guitars, which marks the first time People's Light is producing the work of this renowned American playwright.

Based on overwhelmingly positive response to Mark Twain On Stage, that was performed for a small audience two years ago, we were inspired to commission Mark Twain: Sacred Cows Make the Best Hamburgers, for a larger audience. For the holiday season, People's Light has two exceptional offerings. Aladdin: A Musical Panto will be premiered. The panto, a raucous British tradition that we have made our own, injects a bit of music hall sensibility and audience participation to create an interactive entertainment that's fun for everyone in the family. This Wonderful Life, in its Philadelphia premiere, brings the heartwarming message of the classic holiday film It's A Wonderful Life to the stage.

In January, Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale will be directed by Guy Hollands from Citizens Theatre in Scotland. This production is being planned as an event that will encompass and engage audience members as soon as they arrive at our campus, with outdoor entertainment and festivities. In the Spring, Artistic Director AbiGail Adams will direct Horton Foote's A Trip to Bountiful. This will be the third time Adams has explored her connection with this Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright. People's Light always works to strengthen our connection with young audiences, and we are proud to present Stargirl, an adaptation by Y York of the novel by beloved local author Jerry Spinelli. Stargirl will be followed by the world premiere of playwright Bess Wohl's contemporary, political tale Barcelona, which explores the intriguing landscape of modern relationships. We will complete our season with a comedy, exploring the backstage antics of a farce and its actors in Noises Off by English playwright Michael Frayn.

Subscription packages are now on sale and include the 6-Play Series, the PNC Arts Alive Discovery Series, as well as additional flexible packages. People's Light & Theatre is located at 39 Conestoga Road, Malvern, PA 19355. For tickets call 610.644.3500 or visit PeoplesLight.org.
