Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love
By Brad Fraser
Directed by Ryder Thornton
September 24-October 18

A dark comedy-drama from the pen of one of the writers and producers of the Showtime hit, Queer As Folk. Canadian scribe, Brad Fraser takes look at the lives of several sexually frustrated "thirty-somethings" who try to learn the meaning of love, while living in fear of a serial killer. Told through the eyes of a psychic dominatrix, the play uses and subverts elements of various genres, including thriller, situation comedy and B horror films. Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love is a serious play with a cynically humorous tone.

When You Comin' Back Red Ryder
By Mark Medoff
Directed by William Roudebush
December 4, 2009-January 11, 2010

An OBIE winner, written by the writer of Children of a Lesser God, When You Comin' Back Red Ryder deals with the changes to the daily drudgery of life at a diner at a New Mexico Rest Stop when some complicated guests arrive. An upscale couple and an unbalanced Vietnam War Vet and his hippie girlfriend ignite a messy situation when illegal drugs and guns enter the picture and one of the characters resorts to physical, mental, and emotional torture when he holds everyone hostage.

A Couple of White Chicks Sittin' Around Talking
By John Ford Noonan
Directed by William Roudebush
February 11 2010-March 7 2010

An Off-Broadway hit, this two-character comedy takes place in the suburban New York in the kitchen of a model housewife, who is having a tough day: her husband is off on a weekend spree with his secretary and she can't get rid of her pesky neighbor who has just moved up from Texas. Two housewives -- one, a picture-perfect matron, the other a former cheerleader -- learn lessons about life, love and their incorrect assumptions about each other when they form an unlikely friendship. This long running work originally starred Susan Sarandon and Eileen Brennan. TIME Magazine declared it "A lighter than air comedy."

New City Stage Company is dedicated to presenting high quality professional theatre that engages audiences on a variety of levels; not only entertaining them but also encouraging awareness of issues relevant to the community. We draw our season from contemporary and classical works, with a special focus on including Philadelphia premiers from playwrights whose work and stories are not normally found in the region.
