Mikhail Baryshnikov will perform at an October 4 benefit beginning "a new collaboration between the Merce Cunningham Dance Company and the Baryshnikov Arts Center," The New York Times reports.  Baryshnikov and the Merce Cunningham Dance Company will perform 'Occasion Piece2,' accompanied by Joan La Barbara and John Kelly performing music from John Cage's 'Song Books.'  The film 'With Merce,' created by Charles Atlas, will also be shown.

Tickets for the benefit performance will go on sale on August 30 through smarttix.com.

The event will begin 'BAC Flicks: Mondays with Merce,' a series featuring dance films and talks by involved artists, the Times reports.  Films will be shown one Monday a month until December 31, 2011.  Among the upcoming films are Atlas's 'Interscape' and 'Ocean.'
