Recently the NYMF production of DEPLOYED the musical gave fans a sneak peek into their rehearsal process. With a soaring pop rock score and set against the epic backdrop of a military base in Baghdad, DEPLOYED follows Emily's emotional journey. Our heroine develops an unlikely friendship with her interpreter, Laila, as she trains Iraqi women. Laila teaches Emily to appreciate others' suffering and to realize the enemy she's fighting is herself. When Emily finally lets go of her inner demons, a secret from the past comes back to wreak its revenge. They cannot forget...but can they forgive?

In celebration of the 65th Anniversary, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York and Art of Acting Studio in Los Angeles have released a brand new video showcasing the unique culture and community of these two venerable institutions. The video provides an 'inside look' into the history, mission, curriculum and cultural programming of the studio. Over 60 students and 20 faculty participated in the making of the video created by Glamsmash Productions.

The play, directed by Tom Oppenheim will make its off?Broadway premiere on January 7th at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, 31 West 27th Street. The production will have its official opening on January 15th and will be performed in various communities throughout New York City in order to directly realize Working Theater's mission to bring theater to communities where working people live. The Blank Theatre's annual holiday production of "The Santaland Diaries" by David Sedaris, now in its fourth year, will again star Paolo Andino and be directed by Michael Matthews. "Santaland" begins preview performances on Friday, November 16, and opening night is set for Saturday, November 24 at the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood. Lemon, a new documentary about the acclaimed New York poet/playwright Lemon Andersen, will have its broadcast premiere on PBS as part of Latino Public Broadcasting's arts and culture series VOCES on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 p.m. ET (check local listings), in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. Produced and directed by Laura Brownson and Beth Levison, Lemon is a Russell Simmons presentation in association with Impact Partners.

Stella Adler Studio of Acting's production of Israel Horovitz's wildly imaginative play, Lebensraum opens October 27. The play envisions a contemporary Germany and a chancellor who implements a flawed Holocaust reparations plan that sets off visceral responses with global affects.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Outreach Division will perform William Shakespeare's 'The Tempest' tonight. The cast are members of the Outreach Division's Adler Youth Group, a free year-long after-school program. The students chosen for the program learn the same acting technique that helped cultivate the talents of Stella Adler alumni like Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando. This performance serves as a milestone project of the program, which has helped students gain confidence, avoid common urban influences like gangs and drugs, and provide a sense of community that will continue long after the program.

Following six weeks of fierce competition among 20 of California's finest young musical theatre performers, LA's Next Great Stage Star 2011 celebrated Judy Mora's outstanding victory at the 5th annual competition's glittering Finale on Sunday, February 6, presented by Sterling's Upstairs at Vitello's, the most critically acclaimed, award-winning supper club of its kind in greater Los Angeles. Runners up included San Francisco's Michael David (2nd place); Matthew McFarland (3rd place); Emily Goglia (4th place); and Reba Buhr (5th place). Broadway World's Dean Butler was there to capture the three and a half hour event ... off and on stage - which also included a Special Guest Star performance by musical theatre, television star and pop composer/singer Blake McIver Ewing.
