Newsies, the new American musical, opens tonight, March 29 at the Nederlander Theatre, and has extended its limited Broadway engagement through August 19, 2012. Tickets for the extension dates (June 11th through August 19th) will go on sale Tuesday, March 20th at 10am. NEWSIES is now in previews at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre. The musical, featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman, and a book by four-time Tony Award® winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage aux Folles, Torch Song Trilogy), will open on March 29th. Newsies, the new American musical, began performances last week, March 15, at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St) for a limited run. Kicking off their limited run, the Broadway company of Newsies made their national television debut this morning when they perform 'Seize The Day' and 'Santa Fe' on ABC's 'Good Morning America.' The cast of Paper Mill Playhouse's premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies met the press yesterday, and BroadwayWorld was there for the event! Revolutionary newsie Jack Kelly will be portrayed by Jeremy Jordan of Broadway's West Side Story and Rock of Ages. Tony® Award nominee John Dossett will play newspaper giant Joseph Pulitzer.
