Paper Mill Playhouse just opened the world-premiere musical Ever After, directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes, Nice Work If You Can Get It), featuring a book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich. With several recent Paper Mill productions having gone on to enjoy runs on Broadway, the question on everyone's mind is whether this new musical has a future on the Great White Way. In a recent article for the Bergen Record, lyricist Heisler explained: 'Broadway is not the goal, a great show is the goal.' The show's composer Goldrich continued: 'We don't get to decide whether it's commercial, We only get to decide whether it sounds good to us. You try to write something you would like to see, and you hope others will, too.'

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces nine awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its seventh year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $46,000 to ten organizations across the country.

Orlando Repertory Theatre (The REP), in partnership with UCF, is proud to announce its 2015 - 2016 Season! This special one-night-only event will be held at The Times Center today, May 16 with an 8pm concert performance featuring Broadway and Prospect stars. The evening's program includes a diverse array of songs written or co-written by women, including encores of work from Prospect productions. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Prospect's ongoing mission to develop and produce new musical theater works by emerging artists.

Existing partly as a way to promote the upcoming production of Ever After at Paper Mill Playhouse, this intimate cabaret concert was really just a great excuse to get to hear one of Broadway's favorite leading men sing a collection of songs.

The organization's 32nd season will be extended by two weeks this summer.  The Hurst Theatre opens with the groundbreaking revival version of the musical CABARET, running in repertory with Other Desert Cities, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Junie B. Jones The Musical.  Following the regular season, the theatre recently announced the launch of the Aspen Theatre Festival, featuring new plays and musicals being developed for the stage.  The festival takes place the week of August 23rd - 28th.
