AMERICAN CLASSICAL ORCHESTRA Opens With Mendelssohn, Berlioz and More, 9/22; Full Season Announced!

On Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall, the American Classical Orchestra, a 50-piece period instrument orchestra, presents its opening night concert of its 32nd Season. The program will include Mendelssohn's 'Scottish' Symphony, Berlioz's Les nuits d'ete, and Cipriani Potter's Symphony No. 10. In Mendelssohn's stormy Scottish Symphony, period instruments enliven the thrilling orchestration and memorable tunes for which the composer is so beloved. In Berlioz's evocative Les nuits d'ete, the ACO proudly introduces the extraordinary young American mezzo-soprano Avery Amereau. A rarely heard Symphony No. 10 by British composer Cipriani Potter completes a concert that takes the audience back into the luxurious sonorities of the Romantic Era.

Boston Pops to Perform First Concert in Sioux Falls, March 2017

The Washington Pavilion is excited to welcome the Boston Pops, the most recorded and arguably the most beloved orchestra in the country, to the Mary W. Sommervold Hall at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017.  Affectionately known as "America's Orchestra", the Boston Pops has chosen Sioux Falls as one if its destinations during its limited Midwest tour. Billy Childs Named President of Chamber Music America

Chamber Music America (CMA) today announced the appointment of pianist and composer Billy Childs as president of its board of directors, effective July 1. Childs is the organization's ninth board president, and the first jazz musician elected to the position. The CMA board of directors unanimously approved his first three-year term at its June 6th meeting.
