Just last night, the Signature Theatre Annual Gala celebration honored 2012-13 Residency One Playwright David Henry Hwang. Guests came together to pay tribute to the rich and varied body of work of David Henry Hwang, with special participation from B.D. ACT Announces Season Casting: Patti Cohenour in GREY GARDENS, Pamela Reed in OTHER DESERT CITIES and More

ACT has announced some of the casting for the first half of the upcoming Mainstage season. ACT's own Artistic Director Kurt Beattie gets back on the boards alongside Jeff Steitzer, Marianne Owen, Julie Briskman, and Laura Kenny in Assisted Living. In Other Desert Cities the critically acclaimed Marya Sea Kaminski makes her ACT debut going head to head with television actress Pamela Reed (Parks and Recreation, Kindergarten Cop) who is a UW Drama alumni and Washington resident. Many other notable local actors will be returning to ACT or making their debut including Jessica Skerritt, Matt Owen, Lori Larsen, Suzy Hunt, Aaron Blakely, and Kirsten Potter to name a few. The Flea goes audio with the upcoming workshop production of Tommy Smith's NECTARINE EP. A sonic reverberation of Homer's The Odyssey - filtered through the lens of downtown artist Tommy Smith - the audio-fueled 'extended play', NECTARINE EP, de-stimulates the audience's perception through visual and auditory manipulation. This experimental production is both written and directed by Tommy Smith and features The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. (PLEASE NOTE: This production is not open for review.)

The American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater School Institute for Advanced Theater Training continues its 2012-13 Season with Will Eno's The Flu Season, directed by Marcus Stern. The Flea Theater will extend the production of THE VANDAL through March 3. Hamish Linklater's playwriting debut, directed by Jim Simpson and starring Deirdre O'Connell, Zach Grenier and Noah Robbins, opened January 31.

Cutting Ball Theater continues its 14th season with Eugene Ionesco's THE CHAIRS, in a new translation by Rob Melrose. This tragic farce, in the tradition of Cutting Ball's hit productions of Ionesco's The Bald Soprano (2010) and Victims of Duty (2008), is as comedic as it is heartbreaking. Annie Elias (Tenderloin) directs THE CHAIRS, featuring David Sinaiko, Tamar Cohn, and Derek Fischer, March 1 through 31 (Press opening: March 7) at the Cutting Ball Theater in residence at EXIT on Taylor (277 Taylor Street) in San Francisco. Victoria Clark, Peter Dinklage and More Set for the Vineyard's 30th Anniversary Gala

The Vineyard Theatre has announced its annual Gala, this year celebrating the institution's 30th Anniversary. This milestone event will take place at The Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street) on Monday, March 18, 2013 beginning at 6:00 p.m. (cocktail reception at 6:00 pm, dinner @ 7:30 pm., and performances beginning at 8:30 pm). Balcony-level, performance-only tickets will go on sale March 1st.

The Vineyard Theatre proudly announces that its 30th Anniversary season will continue with the New York premiere production of THE NORTH POOL, a new play by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Vineyard's Paula Vogel Award-winning playwright Rajiv Joseph (BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO), directed by Giovanna Sardelli (ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER). Martha Clarke & Branden Jacob-Jenkins Added to Signature Theatre's Residency Five Program

Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) has announced that Martha Clarke and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins have joined the Residency Five program, which provides five-year residencies for multiple playwrights, guaranteeing three full productions of new work over the course of each playwright's residency. The other artists currently in the Residency Five program are Annie Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan, and Regina Taylor.

The Flea Presents THE SHAKES: ROMEO & JULIET, 1/31-3/2

The Flea Theater will continue it's tradition of late-night offerings with The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet. Five teams of actors helmed by five Flea Resident Directors each perform an act from Shakespeare's most tragic love story. Cast from The Flea resident acting company, The Bats, Romeo and Juliet follows the inaugural Shakes, The Honest Whore by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton. The Shakes: Romeo and Juliet will be performed in one-act installments until the play is complete.
