On November 23rd 2009 The York Theatre Company held a gala celebrating The 2009 Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement in Musical Theatre to Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. The event was held at the Racquet and Tennis Club.

The award-winning York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) has announced the winner of a new award celebrating musical theatre talent: The York Theatre Company Noël Coward Prize. The Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee has nominated 60 theater artists for recognition of their outstanding work in 46 productions presented during the 2008-2009 New York theater season. The awards will be presented at a luncheon to be held late this fall.
