Courtney Marie Andrews' new song, “Kindness of Strangers,” is premiering today at The Fader. “Kindness of Strangers” is the second song unveiled from Andrews' anticipated new full-length album, May Your Kindness Remain, which will be released March 23 on Fat Possum Records/Mama Bird Recording Co. and is now available for pre-order.

The San Francisco-based, Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet / Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) presents its fourth annual hometown music festival Kronos Festival 2018. With six concerts over three days, Kronos Festival 2018 illustrates one of the group's central artistic tenets: collaboration. After Kronos performed at NPR Music's 10th anniversary concert last month, NPR Music's Tom Huizenga wrote, 'Collaboration. It's in the DNA of the intrepid Kronos Quartet, which some 40 years ago began working with composers around the globe to spotlight new music.'

Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) is proud to announce the fourth group of composers for Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire. Launched in 2015, Kronos' Fifty for the Future is an exciting partnership with Carnegie Hall and others to create 50 new works - by 25 women and 25 men - expressly for the training of students and emerging professionals. Each year, ten composers are announced. As ever, scores, parts, recordings, videos, and other learning materials for the compositions will be offered free of charge online at kronosquartet.org/fifty-for-the-future.

It's been nearly 20 years since Lucinda Williams melded roots, rock and country into the Grammy-winning classic Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. For the album's anniversary, Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers) took on the challenge of interpreting it on solo blues guitar for Solo Sounds. As described by Mathus, This one is my favorite so far. Solo blues guitar with no vocals, no overdubs, in super hi-res sound quality. These are really hard to do but very cool to listen to. Listen to the album here.

The Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) is collaborating with celebrated theatre director and visual artist Robert Wilson to organize a first-of-its-kind exhibition highlighting the drama, rituals, and opulence of the Qing Empire, the last imperial dynasty of China. The exhibition will present objects from Mia's renowned collection of Chinese art, including rare court costumes, jades, lacquers, bronzes, gold ornaments, paintings, and sculpture, displayed in an immersive, experiential environment conceived of by Wilson. 'Power and Beauty in China's Last Dynasty: Concept and Design by Robert Wilson, presented by Sit Investment Associates, is curated by Liu Yang, Mia's Curator of Chinese Art, and will be on view February 4 through May 27, 2018.
