The Greene Space at WNYC presents T is for Tom: Stoppard’s Radio Works

Tom Stoppard, one of the most celebrated dramatists of his time, cut his dramatic teeth on radio dramas at the BBC in the 1960s and 1970s. This December, The Greene Space at WNYC kicks off "T" is for Tom, a four-part series of rarely performed early works by England's intellectually nimble playwright.

London's Royal Court Theatre dominated the nominations for the 2010 Evening Standard Awards, receiving 11 nominations, the most of any London theatre. The Royal Court further cemented its reputation as the writers' theatre, claiming every nomination in both the Best Play and Most Promising Playwright categories. Signal Ensemble Theatre announces their 2010-2011, 8th anniversary season, including a remount of their hit Rolling Stones' play AFTERMATH, as well as taking up residence in a permanent, leased venue in Chicago's North Center/Lincoln Square district. This 50- to 60-seat adjustable theatre located at 1802 West Berenice Avenue has been Signal's rehearsal space for the past three years (in addition to using offices and storage in the building), and the former Breadline Theatre will be renamed as Signal Ensemble Theatre.

We probably take the cultural impact of rock 'n' roll for granted, not fully comprehending the effect this raw, powerful blast of rebellious freedom has had worldwide, where it has somehow managed to shape generations that are far removed from its origins. With his play ROCK 'N' ROLL, Czech playwright Tom Stoppard is able to show us firsthand how this music molded the beliefs, hopes, and dreams of his own youth, and he filters it through a unapologetic, surprisingly sentimental haze that makes for an engaging and compelling ride through time. The St. Louis Actors' Studio is currently presenting a very entertaining and sharply acted and directed production of this work at the Missouri History Museum.
