The Vagabond Players will present the Baltimore City premiere of Next to Normal, on October 19, running weekends through November 25. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt took Broadway in a whole new direction in 2009.

4TH WALL THEATRE opens its 16th season with Next to Normal, a musical, which Rolling Stone said 'pushed Broadway in new directions.' With a book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, this rock musical deals with an unusual topic for a musical theatre-mental illness.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director), Barry Grove (Executive Producer), and Mandy Greenfield (Artistic Producer) have announced that THE EXPLORERS CLUB, the world premiere comedy by Tony nominee Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde), will be directed by Marc Bruni (Ordinary Days, Old Jews Telling Jokes) featuring Obie Award winner Steven Boyer and Tony Award winner Richard Easton.

Today we are talking to a charismatic leading man who has made quite a mark on Broadway over the last few seasons, having participated in the original Broadways casts of Kander & Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS (for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Actor), Green Day's AMERICAN IDIOT (as Favorite Son) and, most recently, the rapturously-received revival of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY & BESS (as Jake), which won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Revival - the multi-talented Joshua Henry. Discussing the creation, casting, rehearsal and reception of each of the aforementioned musicals, as well as working with his collaborators on said projects - John Kander, Susan Stroman, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tom Kitt, Michael Mayer, Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis, Diane Paulus and more included - Henry illustrates the process of bringing the three wildly different entities to the stage and how he shaped his disparate characters within them. Additionally, Henry also discusses his role in the original production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's IN THE HEIGHTS and that Tony-winning Best Musical's inception and legacy. The event, to be held today, October 4th, will honor the school's founder - and Lin-Manuel's father - Luis A. Miranda, Jr. Guests will attend a pre-show reception at Trattoria Dopo Teatro, followed by a special performance of Bring It On: The Musical at the St. James Theater. Funds raised at the benefit will support direct academic intervention for Amber's young students in an Upper Manhattan district which has traditionally faced tough challenges with literacy and learning achievement.

Theatre Communications Group has just realeased a list of the most-produced playwrights of the upcoming 2012-13 season, and topping the list is David Lindsay-Abaire, with 19 productions. Continuing its commitment to nurturing and producing the next generation of musical theatre artists, Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has awarded its first annual Donna Perret Rosen Award for excellence in musical theatre to composer/lyricist Adam Gwon. The $10,000 award was established at the off-Broadway company's 2011 gala to honor Second Stage Theatre trustee Donna Perret Rosen in recognition of her long-standing commitment to young artists and new works. The award was chosen by Tony Award winners James Lapine, Susan Stroman, and Jack Viertel.
