BWW Review: Pollard's BRING IT ON is Campy Fun at its FinestBWW Review: Pollard's BRING IT ON is Campy Fun at its Finest
by Robert Barossi - Jun 13, 2017

Often, an audience member goes into a show with a certain set of expectations in mind. If you're seeing Shakespeare, you expect sonnets and iambic pentameter. If you're seeing Arthur Miller or Tennessee Williams, you expect searing drama and representations of real, recognizable people and their very human problems. If you are seeing Bring It On: the Musical, based on the cult-favorite movie of the same name, you expect camp, fun, nothing to be taken too seriously and some excellent dance and cheerleading. All of that and more is found in the infectiously enjoyable production of Bring It On now running at the Pollard Theatre in Guthrie. (more...)

Brand New Theatre Company Begins Inaugural Season with NEXT TO NORMALBrand New Theatre Company Begins Inaugural Season with NEXT TO NORMAL
by BWW News Desk - Jun 2, 2017

Next to Normal is best described as a 'feel everything' rock musical. Playwright and lyricist Brian Yorkey (Netflix's 13 Reasons Why) employs humor through funny lines and situations to balance and lighten the play's serious and painful situations of human life. The music by Tom Kitt (If/Then, Freaky Friday) provides pleasure in itself. The music connects to the audience's emotions in ways that simple spoken words cannot. Bringing these two masters together birthed this extraordinary, award winning masterpiece. (more...)
