MTH Announces Cast for BROADWAY'S GOLDEN AGE

The MTH Theater at Crown Center is pleased to announce casting for its first show of its 16th Season, BROADWAY'S GOLDEN AGE. An MTH original production, the show is helmed by respected Kansas City Theater Artist Julie Shaw, who makes her MTH directorial debut with this production. The nine person ensemble includes Danielle Barger, Sara Belhouari, Lexi Brie, John Cleary, Robby May, Phillip Newman, Mandy Morris, and David Sanchez.

The MTH Theater at Crown Center has announced casting for the October installment of its critically acclaimed Musical Monday & Tuesday series. The show is scheduled for Monday October 2 and Tuesday October 3 and will be headlined and hosted by Julie Shaw, fresh off her performance in Kansas City Repertory Theatre's world premiere musical, BETWEEN THE LINES.

The event begins with a 90 minute promenade-style cocktail hour in which all three venues at MTH will be used to highlight 3 different entertainment acts. Kansas City's very popular Motown and funk band 2 PROUD 2 BEG will be perfroming in MTH's newly renovated Studio Theater, while the 12 piece PEOPLE'S LIBERATION BIG BAND (fresh off their inspiring turn in MTH's recent production of 'An Evening with George Gershwin') will be perfroming in MTH's 133 seat Stage 2, and finally Ensemble Iberica's internationally acclaimed guitar virtuoso, Beau Bledsoe will be performing in MTH's Main stage venue.

April's program will feature tunes from Tony nominated musicals of the 1970s juxtaposed with the top radio tunes of the decade. Songs from The Wiz, Ain't Misbehavin', The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and more ~ paired with pop hits made famous by Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, Galdys Knight, and others!

Musical Monday closes with the cast singing "One Day More," which is the amount of time left to catch one of the most phenomenal shows to appear at Musical Theater Heritage at Crown Center. Musical Monday and Tuesday opened on April 20 with Jerry Jay Cranford singing Les Miz from Forbidden Broadway. The theme of the two-day musical event is Les Miserables and Others. Others included tunes from Chorus Line and Little Shop of Horrors.

The first offering for 2015 of Musical Monday and Tuesday opened Monday night February 16 at the Musical Theater Heritage in Crown Center. Musical Monday has always been an audience favorite and for 2015, Musical Theater Heritage added Tuesdays to the performance schedule. Hosted by Tim Scott the production featured songs from the Broadway musical Big River, bluegrass, and country. The production was like a big river out of its banks flooding the theater with fantastic vocals by some of the best vocalist in Kansas City.

A Night on the Town quickly turned into a fabulous night on the town as Kansas City crooner Molly Hammer took the stage. Tim Scott directed the new series from Musical Theatre Heritage, which is sold-out through the end of the production. A Night on the Town named to honor the "A Night on the Town" nationally syndicated radio series, with Executive Director George Harter that he founded in 1998 premiered Thursday night, February 12 at the Musical Theatre Heritage Theatre in Crown Center.

In response to sold out seasons since 2009, additional performances on Tuesday night are scheduled beginning in 2015.

Rock of Ages the theme for Musical Monday, presented by Musical Theater Heritage, played on the stage at the Off Center Theatre on April 14. Kristin Hanggi the Tony Award nominated Broadway director is in Kansas City for the production. Hangii came on stage to talk about the songs and the production of the Broadway musical. She holds a Masterclass for Musical Theater Heritage on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Musical Monday, usually a one-night show, runs for a second night on Tuesday April 15.
