Midwest New Musicals continues Words and Music, a concert reading series of original musicals, with EVE, a contemporary opera in one act in the middle of the night, music by Philip Seward, libretto by Joan Mazzonelli and Philip Seward. The reading is on Monday, February 18, at 7:30 pm, at the Light Opera Works Second Stage, 1420 Maple (at Lake) in Evanston.

Miami, 1986. Divorced and over 60, substitute teacher Dorothy Zbornak is spending another lonely Friday night playing Scrabble with her mother, Sophia. With the help of her roommates, the slutty Blanche Devereaux and the phenomenally stupid Rose Nylund, she is determined to land herself a man, or at the very least, a date. But with the revelation that Rose's idiot exterior is actually a cover for a cocaine distribution mastermind, the ladies are suddenly plunged into a blood-soaked world of drugs, guns, and cheesecake.

Oh Theodora, a Chicago-based sketch comedy troupe, has announced its acceptance of an additional performance slot in the 2013 Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival at Stage 773, and will now perform both on Friday, January 4th @ 9:00PM and Friday, January 11th @ 8:00PM.

Street Tempo Theatre welcomes Santa Claus to their presentation of It's A Wonderful Santa Land Miracle Nut Cracking Christmas Story… Jews Welcome, a multimedia holiday extravaganza for the entire family at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave, for two Sundays only, December 16 and 23 at 3 p.m. Santa will be mingling in the Stage 773 lobby following the performances to listen to children's wish lists and to pose for photographs. It's A Wonderful Santa Land Miracle Nut Cracking Christmas Story… Jews Welcome is playing through Sunday, Dec. 30 with performance times Fridays and Saturdays and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Ticket are $30 for the regular run.
