The Gorilla Tango Theatre presents a musical later this season which is a slight twist on the beloved TV show, starring Betty White and Bea Arthur, Golden Girls. MIAMI NICE: A GOLDEN GIRLS MUSICAL performs Wednesdays at 7:30pm, November 7 - December 19, 2012 at Gorilla Tango Theatre (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647).

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.gorillatango.com or by calling 773-598-4549.

Written and Directed by Jeff Bouthiette - Head of the Music Program at The Second City (Chicago) - MIAMI NICE is his lovingly deranged brain child: "Miami Nice was inspired by a love for the Golden Girls, but also a recognition of how essentially wholesome the ladies were, despite the sexual innuendo. It really comes from a big 'what if?' What if underneath all of that friendship and love was the seedy underbelly of Miami in the late '80s? What if their kindness was masking a cavalier attitude towards human life? And what if the girls were played by men?"

Miami, 1986. Divorced and over 60, substitute teacher Dorothy Zbornak is spending another lonely Friday night playing Scrabble with her mother, Sophia. With the help of her roommates, the slutty Blanche Devereaux and the phenomenally stupid Rose Nylund, she is determined to land herself a man, or at the very least, a date. But with the revelation that Rose's idiot exterior is actually a cover for a cocaine distribution mastermind, the ladies are suddenly plunged into a blood-soaked world of drugs, guns, and cheesecake.

Jeff Bouthiette has music directed for improv and sketch comedy extensively in the city of Chicago, including with the Second City National Tour and at sea, Comedysportz, The Comedy Shrine, Chicago Comedy Company, Gayco and others. As an improviser, he was a longtime member of the musical improv troupe Jazz Hands Across America, and currently performs with the Second City Training Center Music Improv House Ensemble, Infinite Sundaes. As an actor, Jeff has performed with Pegasus Players, Hell in a Handbag, Theatre Hikes, Brown Couch, Stage Two, Arts Lanes, One Theatre, and Chicago Kids Company. He played Montel/Jesus in Bailiwick Repertory's award-winning production of Jerry Springer: The Opera. As a theatrical musical director, Jeff has worked with Theatre Building Chicago, Lil' Buds Theatre, Stage Left, Victory Gardens Theatre, and Chicago Children's Theatre. In 2007, Jeff participated in the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project as one of the nation's top young songwriters. Jeff is also Artistic Director of Bare Boned Theatre.
