Trusty Sidekick Theatre Presents World Premiere of EARTH at University Settlement, Now thru 5/3

The Performance Project @ University Settlement and Trusty Sidekick Theater Company (TSTC) will co-present the world premiere production of Earth-- a new play developed especially for audiences aged 6 and older. The production will run over three consecutive Saturdays (today, April 19, 26 and May 3) at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Speyer Hall in the University Settlement, located at 184 Eldridge Street, New York, NY 10002.
Waterwell Launches Film Division, Premieres DAY TEN at Tribeca Today

Waterwell, one of the Village Voice's Best Arguments for Devised Theater and creators of Goodbar and #9, announces the official launching of its film division with the World Premier of the short film, Day Ten, at the 13th Annual Tribeca Film Festival. Day Ten, is written and directed by Arian Moayed and stars Omar Metwally.

In recognition of the 20 year anniversary of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, actor/writer Jay O. Sanders' play Unexplored Interior, directed by James Glossman, will receive and an unprecedented reading on Sunday, May 11 at 12 Noon at the Museum of Jewish Heritage (www.mjhnyc.org).

The Daily Mail writes that David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's HERE LIES LOVE will open at the National's revamped Dorfman Theatre this October, directed by Alex Timbers. The show is just about to begin a second run at The Public Theater on May 1 in New York City and will transfer to the West End in the fall.

Yale Repertory Theatre, in a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre, presents the world premiere of The House that will not Stand by Marcus Gardley, directed by Patricia McGregor. The House that will not Stand will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) today, April 18-May 10. Opening Night is Thursday, April 24.
Foundry Theatre's THE BOX Will Now Open 4/30

The Foundry Theatre presents a play that exemplifies the company's work: Marcus Gardley's The Box: A Black Comedy. The play, directed by Seth Bockley (writer of February House, director of Philip Dawkins' Failure: A Love Story at Victory Gardens), is a hilarious satire that delivers a punch to the gut of U.S. policing and imprisonment. Written for five actors who perform over a dozen characters spanning generations of captivity and freedom dreams, The Box: A Black Comedy is currently making its world premiere, through May 11 at the Irondale Center (85 South Oxford St., Brooklyn).

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) announces the 2014 Round 2 Cycle B recipients of the Leadership U[niversity]-Continuing Ed program. Through the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, grants of up to $5,000 will support four mid-career and veteran theatre professionals at TCG Member Theatres for learning opportunities to advance their leadership skills. The goal of this program is to strengthen the field by developing the individuals who are the core and the future of theatre.

Today, we're featuring F. Murray Abraham circa 1982. Abraham has focused on stage work throughout his career, giving notable performances as Pozzo in Mike Nichols's production of Waiting for Godot, Malvolio in Twelfth Night for the New York Shakespeare Festival, and Shylock in The Merchant of Venice for the Off Broadway Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA) in March 2007, which was performed at the Duke Theatre in New York and also at The Swan Theatre, part of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He reprised this role in February 2011, when he replaced Al Pacino in the Public Theater's production. In the 1997/98 Broadway season he starred in the new chamber musical Triumph of Love opposite Betty Buckley, based on Marivaux's classic comedy.
