Linda Lavin will be joining the lineup of stars honoring Joel Grey and Jeanine Tesori at the Encompass New Opera Theatre's Gala celebration on Oct. 26th at The National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South, New York City).

After a sold-out engagement at The Public Theater in 2013 and the current commercial off-Broadway run at The Public Theater producers Joey Parnes and Emursive have announced that the David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's' smash hit musical, Here Lies Love, directed by Alex Timbers, will play its final performance in New York on Sunday, January 4th, 2015. The initial Public Theater production began performances on April 2, 2013 and ended its run (after four extensions) on July 28, 2013. The current production reopened at The Public Theater on April 14, 2014 with an official opening on May 1, 2014

Following the wildly successful world premiere of The House, which rang in the 24th season, Kitchen Theatre Company is pleased to offer Steven Dietz's powerful and moving Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet tells the story of two friends, Jody and Carl, who use their wit and sense of absurdity to negotiate the turbulent world at the height of the AIDS crisis. Lonely Planet is currently in previews, with an opening night set for tomorrow, October 18. The play runs until November 2. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Three of L.A.'s most venerable artistic directors come together when Odyssey Theatre Ensemble (Ron Sossi, artistic director) and The New American Theatre (Jack Stehlin, artistic director) present a bold new production of Shakespeare's Othello, directed by Rogue Machine artistic director John Perrin Flynn. The modern dress production, starring Stehlin as Iago opposite A Martinez in the title role, opens for press this weekend at the Odyssey Theatre in West L.A.

The CSULB Theatre Arts Department University Players will present The Colored Museum, written by George C. Wolfe, music by Kysia Bostic, and directed by Trevor Biship. Playing today, October 17th through November 1st, The Colored Museum, in a series of vignettes, explores stereotypes through African American stories and history.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary celebration with the Kansas City premiere of Ayad Akhtar's The Who & The What, directed by Kansas City Repertory Theatre's Artistic Director Eric Rosen. From the 2013 Pulitzer Prize-winning writer of Disgraced, Ayad Akhtar's play, The Who & The What takes a passionate and searing look at a family divided by faith, bonded by love and searching for truth in contemporary America. A brilliant young Pakistani writer is focused on finishing a controversial novel that bridges the gulf between her modern life and her traditional heritage. But when her conservative father and sister discover her manuscript, they are all forced to confront the beliefs that define then. This production, at KC Rep's downtown Copaken Stage in the Power & Light District, will run tonight, October 17 through November 16.

Seattle Repertory Theatre's 2014 New Play Festival opens today Oct. 17 and runs through October 26, 2014.

Tony Award nominee Tony Sheldon (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) has joined the cast of the Encores! Special Event The Band Wagon in the role of Jeffrey Cordova, an egotistical British director. (Roger Rees, previously announced in the role, is no longer available.) The Band Wagon cast stars Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, seven-time Emmy Award winner Tracey Ullman, Academy Award nominee Michael McKean, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes, Tony Award nominee Michael Berresse and Don Stephenson. The Band Wagon will open on Sunday, November 8.

The star of the Public Theater's highly acclaimed Off-Broadway environmental biomusical HERE LIES LOVE, Jose Llana, recently participated in a unique interview series titled BEDTIME STORIES and the interview is now available to view.

Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU opened on September 28, 2014, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). The production is directed by six-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Scott Ellis (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Twelve Angry Men, 1776). The Public Theater presents Bridget Everett's critically acclaimed ROCK BOTTOM at Joe's Pub. The show closes tonight, October 16, 2014. Created by Bridget Everett, Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz, and Matt Ray, and directed by Scott Wittman, this shockingly funny and moving new show began performances on September 9 and was originally slated to close on October 11. ROCK BOTTOM was originally commissioned as part of the Joe's Pub 2013 New York Voices series.
