George Michael, 53, born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou on June 25, 1963 in Finchley, North London, died December 25, 2016 and left the world broken-hearted. One of the greatest singers, songwriters, and pop sensations of our generation, his catchy, upbeat music demands that the listener move, dance, sing-along, foot-tap, shimmy/shake, and feel good.
BWW Review: Tarnished CABARET at Paramount Shows How Good This Classic Can Be
by Jay Irwin
- Jun 14, 2017
The 1998 Sam Mendes staging of Kander and Ebb's classic "Cabaret" has come through the Paramount several times. And why not? It's a great show and a big crowd pleaser. But it requires a cast that gets the show and the tone to be done right. Fortunately for us the current tour at the Paramount is a shiny (or rather intentionally not shiny) example of how good this show can be and why it's still an enduring classic.

BWW Review: Courtney Act Glitters in THE GIRL FROM OZ at the Laurie Beechman
by Troy Frisby
- May 15, 2017
A cyclone of camp with a true gift for one-liners and an even stronger voice, Courtney Act followed the yellow brick road past the crowd to hit the stage in THE GIRL FROM OZ.
Despite several homages to THE WIZARD OF OZ, the May 4 show at the Laurie Beechman Theatre was centered on that other, no less magical Oz: Australia. In fact, the RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE alum's entire set list was comprised of songs famously written or sung by Aussies.

by Nancy Grossman
- Apr 28, 2017
New Repertory Theatre takes us for a ride in the wayback machine for the Boston-area premiere of one of Lydia Diamond's earliest plays. THE GIFT HORSE is a somewhat autobiographical, witty play that is heavy on character, rife with serious themes, and about fifteen to twenty minutes longer than what we are accustomed to two decades later. Obehi Janice, Alejandro Simoes, and Maurice Emmanuel Parent make the ride worthwhile.
