Two-time OBIE Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Emily Mann (HAVING OUR SAY, ANNA IN THE TROPICS) will direct the company, which features Beth Dixon ( The Good Wife, Infinitely Polar Bear, MAJOR BARBARA), three-time Helen Hayes Award-winner Franchelle Stewart Dorn (Red Bull Theater's 'TIS PITY SHE'S A WHORE), Emmy Award-nominee Polly Draper ( thirtysomething, Obvious Child, CLOSER), two-time OBIE Award-winner Kathryn Grody (TOP GIRLS, THE MODEL APARTMENT), OBIE Award-winner Ellen Parker (THE HEIDI CHRONICLES), and Charles Socarides (SONS OF THE PROPHET, When We Rise ). A dynamic duo, internationally acclaimed jazz artist Alexis Cole and Obie award-winning playwright Susan Miller (My Left Breast), are two of the headliners set to grace the stage today, September 16, at Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT)'s 'Watch the Stars Come Out,' the theater group's most 'starstruck' annual fundraiser to date. The blockbuster event will feature a performance by Cole, one of Ossining's own, and remarks by Miller on her commitment to support WCT's unique mission to develop new, innovative work for the theater plus candid, insider insights on the state of theater in today's reframed market. Cole will be accompanied by Emmy nominated composer/producer and arranger Kinny Landrum of Sleepy Hollow on keyboard for the entertainment segment of the evening.

The National Theatre is opening up theatre with inspiring projects for schools, young people, and families and a wide range of events for adults.

World premieres, new writers and ground-breaking adaptations have been announced for 2017 at the National Theatre.

New work by Inua Ellams, Ya?l Farber, DC Moore, Lindsey Ferrentino and Nina Raine is announced today by Rufus Norris, Director of the National Theatre. Four world premieres and two European premieres are further announced as forthcoming productions for the National Theatre in 2017.  

Perhaps most important, 20th Century Blues (notwithstanding its title) addresses, from the inside and the outside, the universal experience of aging, an experience common to all times and places.

A show about older women celebrating and commiserating aging has been done countless times in entertainment, from Steel Magnolias on stage to The Golden Girls on television. However, 20th Century Blues, a world premiere play at the Contemporary American Theater Festival written by Susan Miller and directed by Ed Herendeen, breaks the mold when it comes to the female ensemble dramedy.

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University has announced its 2016 line-up featuring five new American plays, including three world premieres. Theater Festival Producing Director Ed Herendeen has chosen scripts from Christina Anderson, Allison Gregory, Chisa Hutchinson, two-time OBIE-Award winner, Susan Miller, and Ronan Noone. 

Two young women in Manhattan are trying to figure out life after college, but they'll settle for making rent. They join a community advocacy group called SAFE ('Stay Away From Ed') named for an elusive serial attacker terrorizing the city, when they learn there's a big reward for information that leads to his capture. Their SAFE 'friends' include their ruthless, socially stunted roommate; the celebrated author of a fictional memoir; a lonely man who feels a kinship with crime victims; and an 'Ed survivor,' reveling in her fifteen minutes of dubious fame. This black comedy was written by Gina Gionfriddo (After Ashley Dragon 2013, Rapture, Blister, Burn, a 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist) and was the winner of the 2001-2002 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for woman playwrights.

The Dramatists Guild Fund and Program Chairs Michael Korie, Laurence O'Keefe, and Diana Son are proud to announce the 2015-2016 Class of Dramatists Guild Fellows. Five playwrights and eight musical theater writers were selected from over 150 applications.
