Contemporary Theatre of Dallas (Producing Artistic Director, Sue Loncar; Managing Director, Emily Piepenbrink) will make its New York debut in July 2014 with LONE STAR and LAUNDRY & BOURBON. The two one-acts by the widely-produced late playwright James McLure give a flavorful slice of life in rural Texas. Now in its 13th season, the celebrated regional theater company has been named "Best Theatre Company" by the Dallas Observer. Their productions are regularly selected in the "Top 10 Shows of the Year" from theDallas Voice. LONE STAR and LAUNDRY & BOURBON, directed by Cynthia Hestand, will be performed at The Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) from July 5 to July 26.

Playwrights Horizons has announced initial casting for its upcoming 2014/2015 Season. The announcement includes casting for the first two shows of the season: initial casting for BOOTYCANDY, the New York premiere of a new play written and directed by Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (In the Continuum, Antebellum, Insurrection: Holding History); and initial casting for GRAND CONCOURSE, the World Premiere of a new play by playwright and two-time Obie Award-winning actress Heidi Schreck (There Are No More Big Secrets, Creature), directed by Kip Fagan (The Revisionist, Asuncion).

Studio 2ndStage's final production of the 2013-2014 season is the edgy and strangely charming Carrie: The Musical, co-directed by Studio 2ndStage Artistic Director Keith Alan Baker and Jacob Janssen. Cohen, Michael Gore and Dean Pitchford, 2ndStage's CARRIE stars Tony Award nominee Barbara Walsh as Carrie's mother, Margaret White, with Emily Zickler making her Studio Theatre debut playing the titular role. The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of more than seventy non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will award grants of over $100,000 for residencies, a commission, and production support through the Collaboration Fund in 2014/15.

square product theatre kicks off its 9th Season with the World Premiere of SLAB, adapted by Gleason Bauer and Emily K. Harrison from the forthcoming novel by Mississippi born, Denver-based writer Selah Saterstrom. SLAB will be presented in the ATLAS Black Box theater on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, July 31-August 16, 2014.

Curtain Call Productions will kick off its new studio series with the regional premiere of Jonathon Larson's Tick, Tick… Boom! at the new A.C.T. Studio Theatre with a run from July 17th- 27th. Curtain Call, which helms its main series shows out of Flagler Place in Downtown Stuart, will begin offering smaller, more intimate shows as a part of its Studio Series at the A.C.T. Studio Theatre on Ocean Boulevard.

London dates announced! The epic theatrical bicycle tour continues - the Handlebards began their ride on 29 May in Surrey and tonight will perform at Skipton Castle. Highlights of the tour so far include a 7-hour ride over the Pennines, arriving in time to perform the show.

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company's $10 million campaign - Growing the Arts at Walker Farm - can be a game changer for Southern Vermont, Campaign Chair Wayne Granquist said today. “Gotta Dance: A Tribute To…Life!” a spectacular, new stage extravaganza celebrating dance through the years, is set for a World Premiere showcase July 2 and 3, 2014, at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in the Troesh Studio Theatre, presented by The HAND Company, directed and choreographed by Giulio Scatola, and produced by Steve Hand, with production design by Emmy Award winner, Andy Walmsley and music produced by Josh Connolly.

New English Ballet Theatre, founded by its Artistic Director Karen Pilkington-Miksa, made its successful debut at the Peacock Theatre in 2012. This month, the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is teaming up wiht the Theatre Development Fund's Autism Theatre Initiative (ATI) to launch its first ever autism friendly series for kids. The shows will be performed in a supportive environment for an audience of families and friends with children or adults who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder or other sensitivity issues. Slight adjustments to the production may be made, including reduction of any jarring sounds or light cues. The theatre lobby will have a quiet/activity area, staffed with autism specialists, for those who need to leave their seats during the performance. Social narratives and pictures of the theares and productions designed to personalize the experience for each attendee with ASD will be available for download in advance of the performances.
