The Kleban Foundation's 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist has been awarded to Nathan Tysen and the 24th annual Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Arthur Perlman.The 2014 prizes will be presented tonight, June 23, 2014, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI.

H. S. Kaufman (Book) and Christopher Anselmo (Music and Lyrics) are twenty year-old artists who have written a highly anticipated and groundbreaking musical about what some might describe as a soul-searching and terrifying milestone in the American culture - High School Graduation.

Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside and American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity ensemble, are proud to announce the Saturday, June 21 performance of Grounded, by George Brant and directed by Lisa Portes, at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. is a benefit performance for Children of War Foundation. Proceeds from the performance will go directly to surgery and medical treatment for Shah Bibi Tarakhail, an Afghan Child Affected by War. The running time is approximately 80 minutes. Grounded runs through July 13. Austin Shakespeare teen company Young Shakespeare will perform The Tempest at Richard Garriott de Cayeux' replica of an Elizabethan theater, The Curtain Theater, on the shores of Lake Austin, June 19 - 22 (Thurs-Sun at 8 pm) and June 25 - 28 (Wed-Sat at 8 pm).

Coming of Age, a theatrical song cycle - a collection of short stories about growing up - will have its New York premiere this summer as an Official Selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) celebrating its 11th Anniversary Season. With a book, music and lyrics by Jon Provan, Coming of Age will be presented at Ford Foundation Studio Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Aves.). Beginning June 28, Imagination Stage welcomes back its popular show for the very young, Mouse on the Move.

SWINGTIME CANTEEN, a musical by Linda Thorsen Bond, William Repicci, and Charles Busch, will open July 4th for a limited run at the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre. This five woman musical takes place on stage at a concert for the Eighth U.S. Air Force in 1944 and pays tribute to the USO and all of the wonderful vintage classics from that time. SWINGTIME CANTEEN plans to assist service members who have been injured in the line of duty. Some proceeds from the show will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of injured veterans and their families.
