On the heels of the 16-time Grammy Award winner's sold-out, standing-room-only debut performance on Tuesday night, December 9, Sting's engagement in THE LAST SHIP on Broadway has been extended through January 24, 2015, the musical's producers Jeffrey Seller and Kathryn Schenker announced. Originally scheduled to perform with the cast for five weeks, Sting will now appear for an additional two weeks in the role of Jackie White in THE LAST SHIP at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 W. 52 St.).

Just last night, Sting joined the cast of the musical he penned, The Last Ship, for a limited run through January 10, 2015. He will be replacing actor Jimmy Nail, who is said to have 'blessed' the move. Sting then joins Paul Simon on tour in New Zealand on January 30, 2015, making any further extensions unlikely. Sting will return to the Broadway stage as a performer when he steps into the role of Jackie White in the acclaimed new musical THE LAST SHIP, for which he made his Broadway debut as a composer earlier this season. This just in! The NY Times reports that Sting will be joining the cast of the musical he penned, THE LAST SHIP for a limited run from December 9th to January 10, 2015. He will be replacing actor Jimmy Nail, who is said to have 'blessed' the move. The production has been reportedly losing $75,000 a week since performances began on Sept. 29. According to the Times, it needs to gross at least $625,000 a week to break even and sustain a Broadway run.

Vineyard Theatre today announced that the world premiere of the musical BROOKLYNITE, helmed by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, SPRING AWAKENING), would begin performances Friday January 29th, with an opening night set for Wednesday February 25th. St. Ann's Warehouse has announced the cast of the upcoming American Premiere of the National Theatre of Scotland's Let the Right One In, adapted by Jack Thorne from John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel and screenplay, and helmed by Director John Tiffany and Associate Director/Movement Steven Hoggett. Rebecca Benson will return to the role of the vampire girl next door, which she originated in Dundee and then played at the Royal Court and on the West End to critical acclaim. Cristian Ortega will play opposite her as Oskar, the bullied boy Eli befriends.
