Bay Area Musicals (Matthew McCoy, Founder & Artistic Director, and AeJay Mitchell, Managing Director) announced today that the theatre company's 2018 gala fundraiser, A Twist of Limelight, will star Tony Award-nominated actress Carmen Cusack (Bright Star, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables) in a special performance. All proceeds of the evening will support upcoming productions by Bay Area Musicals! The gala will be held at San Francisco's Alcazar Theatre on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Tickets to this one-night-only event range from $45.00 - $175.00 and are available now at www.bamsf.org/twist-of-limelight.

Martin Short appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night where he talked about how, on the road with his buddy Steve Martin for 'An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life', he had to perform with a cane after falling over his overweight pup. Watch the clip below!

Legendary actors and comedians Steve Martin and Martin Short are teaming up for a very special night of live comedy and music at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis on Saturday, September 29th. 

The McCallum Theatre recently announced its new lineup as it begins its fourth decade of presenting world-class artists and entertainers for Coachella Valley audiences. The new season includes McCallum debuts, iconic superstars, family-friendly entertainment, holiday sensations, and an outstanding roster of Broadway favorites including Jersey Boys, Spamalot and Something Rotten. I had the opportunity to catch up with McCallum President and CEO, Mitch Gershenfeld, to reflect on a very successful 2017-18 season and to get his thoughts on the blockbuster season ahead. (I will say at the start, I am a big fan of Mr. Gershenfeld for consistently bringing diverse and high-quality entertainment to desert audiences and for his constant optimism and positive energy.) Here are a few excerpts from our interview:

Fair Lawn resident Teddy Coluca who plays Mr. Brimley on NBC's The Blacklist  will lead the ensemble in The Company Theatre Group's (Lou Scarpati, Managing Artistic Director)  production of The Underpants, written by Steve Martin, co- directed by Lou Scarpati and Teddy Coluca.

AEG Presents announced this morning the full 2018 lineup for its 60th Summer Concert Series at The Mountain Winery. North Texas-based theatrical and film producers Gordon Kelly and Robin Benson Linek have developed a way for theatre ticket purchases to double as grass roots support for a new production in Dallas; the North Texas premiere of Michael Marc Bouchard's play Lilies, scheduled to start performance at the Bath House Cultural Center on Friday, May 31, 2017.

Texas Christian University's School of Music is proud to present the world premiere of a new opera, The Falling and the Rising, by contemporary artistic duo Zach Redler, composer, and Jerre Dye, librettist. The new opera paints a powerful portrait of the incredible resiliency, fortitude and heroism of our nation's wounded warriors, and is the culmination of a large-scale project commissioned by TCU together with the Arizona Opera, San Diego Opera, Opera Memphis, Seagle Music Colony, Seattle Opera and the U.S. Department of Defense. A product of the TCU School of Music's dedication to commissioning new music, The Falling and the Rising will premiere at 7 p.m. April 6 at Ed Landreth Hall and Auditorium and run for five performances.

BRIGHT STAR follows two pairs of star-crossed lovers, two decades apart, all against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. And now through March 25, the Tony Award-nominated musical makes its home at the Hobby Center.
