SILENCE! The Musical will play a special added matinee performance today, December 26th at 2 PM at the Elektra Theatre. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run on December 30th, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records for the show so far. As a result, the producers have determined that performances of the smash hit show will resume after a brief hiatus on January 18th. Originally announced as a strictly limited engagement through August 13, 2011, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre in the heart of Times Square, which was constructed especially for the show. SILENCE! opened at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews and spawned a highly successful L.A. production starring Davis Gaines and Christine Lakin.

Pippin began performances earlier this month at The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) surrounded by Broadway buzz. But according to a report by the Associated Press, the show's cast and creative team are keeping their focus to making the current run stand on its own before Pippin officially opens on January 3rd.

Cousins - The Songs of Beck & May featuring James Snyder, Todrick Hall, Allie Trimm, David Burnham and more, is set for digital release tomorrow, Dec. 21st.

Academy Award winner CUBA GOODING, JR, (Jerry Maguire, Red Tails), Emmy Award nominee and recording star VANESSA WILLIAMS (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives), and Tony Award nominee CONDOLA RASHAD (Lifetime's Steel Magnolias, Broadway's Stick Fly) will star along with the previously announced CICELY TYSON in the upcoming Broadway revival of HORTON FOOTE'S beloved classic, THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, directed by MICHAEL WILSON. Produced by NELLE NUGENT and KENNETH TEATON, this 14-week limited engagement will begin previews on Easter Sunday, March 31st at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre (124 W 43rd St). American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) has scheduled the following American Sign Language (ASL) and Audio Described performances for the upcoming productions at the Loeb Drama Center for Hansel and Gretel and Pippin.

The 17th annual ASCAP Foundation Awards Event took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center last week. Among the musical theater-related awards presented was the Mary Rodgers-Lorenz Hart Award to lyricist Marcy Heisler and the Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award to the composer-lyricist team of Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner. In June 2012, she celebrated her 1000th performance as Elphaba in three subsequent production of Wicked: in Stuttgart and Oberhausen (Germany) and in Scheveningen (The Netherlands). On February 12th Willemijn Verkaik will make her Broadway debut and play the green witch for 15 weeks at the Gershwin Theatre.
