Vocalists, Michael Hughes (2013 New York City Bistro Award Winner, Mickey & Judy) and Callandra Dendias (Toronto's Mamma Mia!), who last joined forces in 2010 for their sold-out concert "Unexpressed" at the Berkeley Street Theatre, will reunite for Defying Gravity: The Music of Stephen Schwartz on June 18th at Toronto's Jazz Bistro. With performances by special guests, including multiple East Coast Music Award nominee, John Connolly, Lindsey Frazier (star of Neptune Theatre's Legally Blonde), singer/songwriter Kritty Uranowski (Patti Cake), newcomer Joel Cumber, and accompanist Mark Selby.

Hirson and Stephen Schwartz's beloved coming-of-age musical comedy PIPPIN with a digital release today, June 4 and the CD in stores on July 9. The album is co-produced by composer Stephen Schwartz and Kurt Deutsch with Howard and Janet Kagan serving as executive producers.

High school vocalists from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Missouri will compete today, June 1 at a regional for the Great American Songbook Vocal Academy & Competition. WICKED Announces Lottery for $25 Tickets at Ohio Theatre, Begin. 6/5

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held for WICKED, which is returning to the Ohio Theatre with performances from June 5-23. Two and one-half hours prior to each performance, people who present themselves at the east entrance of the Ohio Theatre (just off State Street between the Ohio Theatre and the Sheraton) can place their names in a lottery drum. Names will be drawn 30 minutes later for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only. This lottery is available in-person only at the Ohio Theatre with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets.

Beautiful Soup's RAGS Opens Tonight Off-Broadway

The Beautiful Soup Theater, whose revival of Moose Murders recently played The Connelly Theatre, will return to that venue in May with a production of the short-lived musical RAGS. The musical, which closed on Broadway after only four performances in 1986, features a masterful score by Charles Strouse (Annie, Applause, Bye, Bye, Birdie!), lyrics by two-time Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz and a libretto by Joseph Stein. The musical has undergone extensive revisions over the years, and this version will reflect material from both the well-received 1994 American Jewish Theatre production and the 2011 Lyric Stage production.
