Musical Theatre West at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA opens its 61st season with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a musical comedy from the creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash hit The Producers. The production, with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Thomas Meehan, marks the regional theater premiere of this hilariously tuneful show based on the 1974 smash hit film Young Frankenstein which was a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelley classic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks.

LA STAGE Alliance has announced celebrity presenters set to join host Michael McKean for the 24th Annual Ovation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 3 at the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse. A pre-show reception begins at 5:30, and the curtain will rise at 7pm.

Broadway's Megan Hilty, star of NBC's SMASH and SEAN SAVES THE WORLD, will perform an intimate solo-concert at the Catalina Bar & Grill in the heart of Hollywood on Friday, November 22 at 8:00pm.

Cowboy Versus Samurai, Michael Golamco's hit comedy inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac, will make its Los Angeles debut at The Rosenthal Theater at Inner-City Arts with an opening tonight, September 28, 2013.

Moonlight Stage Productions' 33rd summer season closes with the smash Broadway hit THE WHO's TOMMY, from today, September 18 to October 5, 2013, in a rare full production marking the 20th anniversary of the show's Broadway debut.

3-D Theatriclas presents Funny Girl Sept 6 - Sept 22, 2013 at the Plummer Auditorium, and Sept 27 - Sept 29, 2013 at Redondo Beach. Funny Girl is a musical with a book by Isobel Lennart, music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Bob Merrill. The semi-biographical plot is based on the life and career of Broadway, film star and comedienne Fanny Briceand her stormy relationship with entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein. Its original title was My Man.

The announcement of the 2013 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Award nominees has been set for Monday, September 16 at 7pm. Chance Theater, one of the leading ensemble-driven theatre companies in Southern California, publicly announces its plans to move into a new theater that will double the square footage and has the potential to triple the seating capacity. This major news from the Chance comes after months of strategic planning and successful fundraising efforts, with $235,000 of the first phase's $465,000 goal raised thus far. The Chance is slated to move into its new home in time to kick off its 2014 Season in February.
