Fresh on the heels of the raucous comedy, Hand to God, City Theatre turns in a different direction to present Feeding the Dragon, an intimate and magical world premiere by the award-winning stage and screen actress, Sharon Washington. The production marks Washington's playwriting debut. Feeding the Dragon runs October 22 through November 20, 2016 in the Lester Hamburg Studio at City Theatre, directed byMaria Mileaf.

Sandra Oh, Hoon Lee & More Set for Sundance Institute's New MENA Play Development

Sundance Institute today announced the acting company, dramaturgs and creative advisors participating in its pilot Theatre Lab in the MENA region, including Sandra Oh, Hoon Lee, Deanna Dunagan, Hala Omran and Raeda Taha. The Lab, held in Morocco next month, is part of the Institute's international cultural exchange programs for independent artists and will kick off a new, multi-year commitment to support artists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). For the Lab, the Institute will provide promising, fresh voices from the U.S. and MENA region with a rigorous artistic retreat and new opportunities for cross-cultural discovery, artistic reflection and creative experimentation.

The Public Theater has announced a one-week extension for the New York premiere of Head of Passes, part of Oskar Eustis' 10th anniversary season. Written byTarell Alvin McCraney and directed by Tina Landau, Head of Passes officially opened last night, Monday, March 28 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, April 17. City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden has announced three plays of the six-show 2016-17 season. The South Side company's 42nd season includes a trio of exciting Pittsburgh premieres: Hand to God by Robert Askins, Feeding the Dragon written and performed by Sharon Washington, and The Royale by Marco Ramirez. 'I am really excited about next season at City Theatre where we have culled the hottest new plays for our Pittsburgh audience. Where else can you find a vivid new voice, a theatrical history lesson, and a rollicking and irreverent Broadway hit all at one theatre?
