Internationally acclaimed tap dance virtuoso Savion Glover returns to Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College to open their 2013-2014 season with a one-night-only engagement of his new show, Savion Glover's STePz, on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 8pm. HOMEGOINGS is a 58-minute film that takes an up-close look at the rarely seen world of undertaking in the black community, where funeral rites draw on a rich palette of tradition, history, music and celebration. The award-winning film was produced and directed by Christine Turner, who will be on hand opening night to talk about the film and its impact on her. Also performing a mini-concert that night will be the film's composer, musician Daniel Roumain.

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), the world's first year-round presenter of American tap dance and contemporary percussive arts, honors Mayor Rahm Emanuel with its JUBA! Award at JUBALEE, CHRP's annual gala benefit supporting performance, education and community programs that reach more than 20,000 people every year. This special evening, hosted by broadcast legend and civic leader Bill Kurtis, takes place October 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents In My Corner, a singular new play byLizbeth Hasse and Joe Orrach that works boxing, tap dance and music into the story of a street smart, wise guy Puerto Rican kid from New York City who comes of age in the ring and at the barre. Jeremiah Chechik (Benny & Joon, Diabolique) directs Orrach in an exhilarating performance that takes off to the beat of an original score by Matthew Clark, performed live on stage by Clark on piano, Eugene Warren on bass and percussionist Ronnie Gutierrez. In My Corner opened for a nine-week run at the Odyssey Theatre on Sept. 6. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the production below!

BWW Reviews: Melinda Sullivan's GONE

Sullivan shined in this story of love, loss, and letting go. Gone was a storybook told through dance; a Broadway performance without words. With smooth transitions between scenes, I was seamlessly pulled into Sullivan's world of a home that was simultaneously living out the past and looking toward the future. Sullivan shined most fully in her tap solo "Something More," which put on display Sullivan's pure tap talent with her fast footwork, proving that she was completely at home in her leather-soled tap shoes.
