Category 7 in association with La Salle Academy and Nativity Mission announces the cast and creative team for Stand-Up Tragedy, Bill Cain's searing 1991 play about a Lower East Side middle school, where an idealistic young teacher sets out to save one of his students from an abusive family and the streets. Directed by Nicholas Minas, performances begin at Nativity Church (44 2nd Avenue - between 2nd & 3rd Streets) on Saturday, April 12, 2013 and will continue through May 4.

Matthew Paul Olmos' 'so go the ghosts of mexico, part one' -- selected by Sam Shepard as the inaugural play to be presented under the auspices of the first-ever Ellen Stewart Award -- will be given its world-premiere production by La MaMa (74 E. 4 St.) with preview performances starting April 11 prior to its official press opening on April 14, it has been announced by La MaMa artistic director Mia Yoo.

Mr. Paulin and Mr. McGee's previous collaboration on the McPherson play St. Nicholas was a critically-acclaimed endeavor at the Stephanie Feury Theatre. THE GOOD THIEF, will preview on St. Patrick's Day - Sunday, March 17 at 7pm; Monday, March 18 at 8pm and will open on Sunday, March 24 at 7pm and runs through Monday, April 29 at the Open Fist Theatre, 6209 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.

What happens when Oedipus is a woman and Jocasta is a man? Driven by the belief that what was traditional in 429 BC is radical today, The Faux-Real Theatre Company searches beyond the Freudian notions of "boy loves mom," and re-examines Oedipus the King with modern eyes and ancient techniques, uncovering the fearful truths and the (occasionally comedic) grotesque ironies that Sophocles presented audiences 2000 years prior to the birth of psychology.

Albert Schultz, Founding Artistic Director of Soulpepper Theatre Company, today released details about Soulpepper's 2013 four-show spring lineup, comprised of: Sam Shepard's True West; a new adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde by Jason Sherman; a fresh adaptation of The Barber of Seville by Michael O'Brien with music by John Millard; and Ins Choi's Kim's Convenience. True West and La Ronde begin this month; The Barber of Seville and Kim's Convenience open in May.
