Nominations for the 2016 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards, which honor outstanding dance and choreography on stage and screen, were announced just yesterday at the Friar's Club by New York Post columnist Michael Riedel. For the first time, the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards have explored recognizing excellence in dance, movement, and choreography off-Broadway. Twenty eligible shows in the non-profit and commercial off-Broadway arenas met the eligibility requirements and were considered.

ALLEGIANCE plays its final performance on Broadway today, February 14, 2016. Performances began at the Longacre Theatre on October 6, 2015, and the production officially opened on November 8, 2015. At the time of its closing, the musical will have played 37 previews and 113 regular performances, and will have been seen by approximately 120,000 people, a number that eerily echoes the number of Japanese Americans who were directly impacted by the events that inspired the show. Productions and ATA have announced that the new American musical Allegiance has partnered with Omaze, the fundraising platform that gives you the opportunity to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences while donating to great causes. For a chance to win, fans can donate $10 or more to Takei Over The Town with George Takei and raise money for students to attend performances of Allegiance through Inspire Change. The winner will fly to New York City and kick off the evening by having dinner with George, receive VIP tickets to Allegiance and meet the cast. Rounding out the experience is a customized meme created with Takei and shared to his 10 million social followers.

This just in! Sing Out, Louise! Productions and ATA have announced that the new American musical Allegiance will play its final performance on Broadway on Sunday, February 14, 2016. Performances began at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street) on October 6, 2015 and the production officially opened on November 8, 2015. At the time of its closing it will have played 37 previews and 113 regular performances. Producers also announced a national tour and international productions are in the works. Allegiance had its world premiere in a record-breaking engagement at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego in 2012.

Broadway's ALLEGIANCE to Receive Cast Album!

Sing Out, Louise! Productions and ATA have announced that the new musical Allegiance, with music & lyrics by Jay Kuo, will be preserved with an original cast album to be recorded on Monday, December 7, 2015 at MSR Studios. The recording will be produced by Lynne Shankel & Joel Moss for Sing Out, Louise! Productions. Principal Allegiance cast members Lea Salonga, George Takei, Telly Leung, Katie Rose Clarke and Michael K. Lee will be joined by the entire company for the studio session, which will include original recordings of tracks such as "Wishes on the Wind," "What Makes a Man," "With You," "Stronger Than Before," and Salonga's Act One showstopper "Higher," among many others. The new American musical Allegiance officially opened last night, November 8, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street, starring Tony and Olivier Award winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) in her long-awaited return to Broadway, 'Star Trek' icon George Takei in his Broadway debut at age 78, and Broadway and 'Glee' star Telly Leung. Allegiance is the vibrant and unforgettable story of one family's resilience in the face of seemingly-insurmountable odds, inspired by Takei's real-life experience as a Japanese American during World War II.
