Julie Taymor & SPIDER-MAN Producers Fail to Reach Settlement

The SPIDER-MAN court battle continues, as the legal proceedings between show producers and fired director Julie Taymor have now lasted seven months. According to the New York Times, federal Judge Katherine B. Forrest has 'expressed frustration that an agreement had not been completed in spite of the parties' coming to terms in principle in August.'

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced today that it will continue its collaboration with Dallas Theater Center to co-produce the new musical THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE in 2014. Following the success of the musical Giant, THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE, based upon the bestselling novel by Jonathan Lethem, will premiere at Dallas Theater Center in March and continue in New York as part of The Public's 2014-15 Season at Astor Place.

Dallas Theater Center to Present THE ODD COUPLE, 3/15-4/14

Dallas Theater Center announced today the upcoming production of Neil Simon's classic American comedy, The Odd Couple, directed by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. When two men with struggling relationships, neat and particular Felix Ungar and disheveled and rough-edged Oscar Madison, decide to live together, the results are funny and poignant. The Odd Couple opens with previews on Friday, March 15 and runs through Sunday, April 14 at the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre in the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

RED Plays Dallas Theater Center, Now thru March 24

Dallas Theater Center welcomes North Texans into the studio of artist Mark Rothko in the Texas premiere of Tony Award-winning Red, directed by DTC associate artistic director Joel Ferrell. This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. This show also marks the first production-specific collaboration between DTC and the Dallas Museum of Art, which will provide patrons and visitors the opportunity to learn about the world of Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in special events about the work with both organizations. Red opens with preview performances tonight, February 7 and runs through Sunday, March 24 and is the first show ever to be performed on the 9th floor of the Wyly Theatre.

SPIDER-MAN Producers Expected to Reach Settlement With Julie Taymor This Week

The New York Post reports today that director Julie Taymor's lawsuit against SPIDER-MAN producers is close to a settlement. 'We anticipate notifying the Court within the next week that a final settlement agreement has been executed,' Taymor's attorney, Charles T. Spada, wrote yesterday.

Headlong will return to the Almeida Theatre following the critically acclaimed 2008 co-production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. The collaboration will continue in autumn 2013 with a new co-production - the World Premiere of American Psycho, with book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. American Psycho will be directed by Rupert Goold and produced in association with David Johnson and Jesse Singer at Act 4 Entertainment.

Dallas Theater Center Patrons Donate Over $63,000 to North Texas Food Bank in 5th Year of Partnership

Dallas Theater Center patrons donated $63,186.72 to the North Texas Food Bank during DTC's annual production of A Christmas Carol. The previous record of $48,988.85 was set in 2010. During the five-year partnership with NTFB, DTC patrons have donated $239,918.35 to the organization.

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in its 2nd smash year on Broadway, and has been seen by more than 1 million audience members from around the world. It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, 'Big Love'). On Saturday, December 29, Joan Collins and her family attended the matinee performance of SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark and you can check out a photo of Collins backstage below!
