Take to the skies on the wings of a...peach? Anything is possible when young James Trotter (J.J. Pen) discovers a magical escape from his dreary life with aunts Spiker and Sponge (Tai Sammons and Melanie Moseley). A chance encounter with a magical stranger, a bag filled with mysterious crocodile tongues, and an unexpected accident lead to the creation of the largest peach the world has ever seen! After climbing aboard the giant fruit, James finds himself surrounded by a rag-tag group of friendly insects: Centipede (John Ellingson), Spider (Annie Willis), Earthworm (Sam Burns), Grasshopper (Zero Feeney), and Ladybug (Madeleine Delaplane). Adventure awaits the unlikely crew as James captains the peach across the Atlantic; flying, floating, and rolling away from a life of loneliness and isolation into to a brighter, more hopeful future. The Tony Award winning Matilda the Musical welcomes today, September 3, Craig Bierko and Jill Paice to the company as Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey, respectively. Bertie Carvel and Lauren Ward played their final performances in those roles on September 1.

Bertie Carvel and Lauren Ward will play their final performances as Miss Trunchbull and Miss Honey, respectively, in MATILDA THE MUSICAL at The Shubert Theatre today. The Tony-nominated pair originated their roles in the West End prior to making the trip across the pond for Broadway's production. Craig Bierko and Jill Paice will join the company on September 3.

South Coast Repertory's 50th season blends five world premieres with classics and modern masterpieces. The slate includes Arthur Miller's American classic Death of a Salesman, the musical The Light in the Piazza and the world premiere of Rest by Samuel D. Hunter. The season concludes with the play that started it all for SCR in 1964: Moliere's Tartuffe. Season subscriptions are available now; single tickets go on sale in August.

Award-winning Vermont director Jay Craven will present his new film, “Northern Borders,” at special screenings, Friday, September 6th at the Brandon Town Hall; Friday, September 13th , Vergennes Opera House; Saturday, September 14th at Middlebury Town Hall Theater; and Sunday, September 15th at Holley Hall, Bristol. Showtimes are 7:30pm. The film is based on the award-winning novel by Vermont writer Howard Frank Mosher.
